This is one of the vendors in the Lion Plaza food court. Tables can be hard to find when it's busy. Family told me they have the best bo ne around, and I believe them after trying it. Everything on the plate was incredibly flavorful. The sauce had a sweet soy garlic flavor profile and the meat was flavorful. The baguette is also super soft and is a perfect vessel for eating everything together and soaking up the sauce. The egg adds a little creaminess and the side salad adds a little tartness to the palate. The dish just hits all the right flavor notes for me! Cash only. It does take a while for the food to come out. Expect around 30ish minutes wait for food to be ready. I know they're opening a location in Vietnam Town, so I'm looking forward to that!

This is so good! The bread is super, the pâté is good, the meat and sauce is good. They are always nice to me. It can get really busy and kind of a long wait, but it's worth it. If you don't want to wait, come when or before they open. ***Also, they are moving soon to vietnam town on story road. They will be on the Walmart side.

They're serving their bo ne with only one egg instead of two now, likely due to egg shortage.

There are only two items on the menu, and as for their namesake dish, they do it very well. Be forewarned that the wait can be quite long - 30-40 minutes from when I ordered, for weekend lunch. You get a pager and wait for it to buzz. I got a hot plate full of grilled rare beef, pate, meatball, onions, and egg, all doused in oyster sauce, along with a baguette to soak up the flavors. There was also a side salad and a cup of tea. Definitely one of the more interesting dishes I have tried and not something you can find outside of a Vietnamese neighborhood.

Have wanted to try this place out for a while after my friend and I talked about it. It's located in a food court in a plaza. There are a couple different food spots that share a common seating area. Now, we did come at lunchtime, but this place is busy as heck! They have so many orders going out, it made it hard to see even where to order. But that also meant their food should be super tasty with how many orders they were getting. You get a pager after ordering, and we had about a 20-25 minute wait for our order of Bo Ne ($20; cash only). The dish comes on a hot plate and includes steak (I believe filet), pate, a meatball, and two eggs, as well as a baguette, salad, and cup of tea. Be prepared to flip the steak pieces to sear while the hot plate is still hot enough! I asked for medium rare and it did out come on the rarer side but after searing it, it was good. The steak was seasoned perfectly and was super tender and juicy. I really liked the savory pate and spread it on the still warm and soft baguette. The sunnyside up eggs were cooked well too. They soak up the flavor from everything else on the plate, which makes them even more delicious. I didn't have any leftover bread but I would have used it to get any of the remaining sauce. It can be hard finding a table to sit down and eat at. I would recommend coming not directly at lunchtime to avoid a longer wait. But I think it's worth it either way. A quick meal that satisfied my stomach.

Whenever I come down to San Jose, I always suggest to eat here first no matter what. It's definitely my go to spot when visiting San Jose. I feel like there's only one thing to get here which is the Bo Ne with Filet Mignon. If you're unfamiliar with Bo Ne, it is a Vietnamese breakfast dish with steak, eggs, pate, and bread. And Bo Ne Phu Yen makes it best in the Bay (at least compared to the others I've tried). The bread paired with eggs and pate dipped in their savory sweet steak sauce is just SOOOOOO GOOD. I crave this right away when I hear the words "San Jose." The filet mignon is always pretty tender. They tend to undercook the meat if you order medium rare causing the meat to be chewy at times. I would suggest ordering the steak medium. Also, it is CASH ONLY! So be prepared.

Was craving Bo Ne and had to come here. It's tucked in with other great restaurants that have different specialties so its good for a group to get different things without having to compromise. Been to a lot of other places that serve BoNe but this place does it the best even the bread is perfect, super fluffy and soft. And I dont even like bread like that but I would eat this bread itself.

My bestie came to visit from Hawaii, so we gotta hit all the spots that she's seen on social media. I've been to the Lion Plaza many times, but for some reason I've never gone into this food court... I actually couldn't figure out which way until I pulled google maps up and realized I walked right past the entrance... oops. For $20, I am honestly surprised how much we get (especially nowadays). We both got our own filet mignon order and that was definitely way too much food, 1 is sharable - 2... we were carrying our stomachs to the car. Just the smell in there alone was intoxicating in the most wonderful way. I am honestly mad I haven't tried this place earlier. Around 9:30am, there was some people, not too packed and thankfully we were able to get a table to sit. Service is minimal as you just order (CASH ONLY) and pick up when they got the tray ready. I still can't believe all the food was only for $20, the steak was cooked perfectly to my preference of medium rare and super juicy on the hot sizzling plate with all the other meats... over easy eggs too. The warm baguette was the perfect accompaniment to grab everything together for the meal - though I would've so had this with rice for lunch or dinner too. It's been 3 months and whenever I'm asked what I want for breakfast, this Bo Ne plate immediately comes to mind... I would totally drive 2 hours for it, waking up early for it. Final Thoughts: This is a very heavy meal (less if you share), but now one of my absolute favorite breakfasts. Will definitely suggest to come here for anyone that comes to visit and honestly I was worried about the social media hype... but it was accurate for how good this place is.

$20 for steak, eggs, pate and a banh mi, such a good deal. Cash only. I usually get my steak medium rare. The steak is savory yet slightly sweet. It really tastes as good as it looks and was exactly what I expected. It can be hard to find a table especially over the weekends since it gets pretty crowded. Also, there is a man who cleans up the tables but isn't very nice so after I finish eating-- I leave quickly.

I've been going to Lion Plaza for many years now ever since I was a little kid. Recently, social media has been hyping up the sizzling steak plate at Bo Ne Phu Yen., I have eaten at other food stalls inside the food court but never here. So I recently tried it out and went during off peak hours and didn't have to wait that long. I probably waited less than 15 minutes. When my order was ready, it was piping hot and sizzling. For $20, cash only, you get the steak which I got medium, pate, eggs, meatballs, side salad, the airy and crusty bread, and tea. The steak was absolutely tender and paired well with everything on the plate. I really love Vietnamese sizzling steak plates and this is one of the best in San Jose. The owner spoke to me and said that he plans to open a restaurant at Vietnam Town in 2 to 3 months and will ultimately either sell the Lion Plaza location or keep it. He is still not sure. The new Vietnam Town location will offer more menu items and other surprises. I'm excited to see what else is in store and a huge good luck and lots of success to his new location.
